Applying this experience with the latest technology at all stages of the process, respect for the environment and a firm commitment to quality and differentiation, have contributed to ranking Toralla as the leading company in mussel in Chile.

In order to achieve and maintain this position, a commitment to vertical integration has proved vital: besides processing and marketing, Toralla manages (through its subsidiary, Cultivos Toralla) over 250 hectares of sea.

Toralla has taken on the new demands in terms of ecology and the environment. For this reason, the distinguishing feature of quality is based on respect for and compliance with environmental legislation. Indeed, the large volumes of solid waste (basically shell) generated during the production process, are appropriately treated at the Lime Plant. Here the shells are converted, following a complex calcinations process, into a new end product: whiting, which is commercialized on the market as natural fertilizer for the land.
